Most people who lose control of a chronic condition are not careless. They ran out of a script on a Tuesday, could not take leave, missed a month, and then another — and nobody was watching the numbers in between.
Chronic disease is common enough in South Africa that this happens at scale. The South Africa Demographic and Health Survey 2016 found that 46% of women and 44% of men aged 15 and older were hypertensive, and that 13% of women and 8% of men in the same age group had blood glucose in the diabetic range.

Management, not a cure
Hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, asthma, thyroid disease and HIV are long-term conditions. They are managed — with consistent medication, monitoring and review — not cured. We do not promise outcomes, and where your condition needs specialist input or a physical examination, we tell you and refer you to a registered specialist.

Our care team is made up of HPCSA-registered Medical Doctors and Clinical Associates working under live doctor supervision, in line with HPCSA Notice 1390 of 2016. Where a case needs specialist input, we refer you to a registered specialist. You see who is consulting you before your call begins.
